Abstract

The article describes the new academic discipline “Ballistic Efficiency of Aircraft”, developed on the basis of long-term research on the problem of increasing flight range and aimed at developing skills in selecting and justifying technical solutions that ensure the fulfilment of the stated objective. The discipline covers the key concepts, indicators and methods for evaluating ballistic efficiency, as well as a set of principles and technical solutions necessary to achieve high flight performance. The purpose of the discipline is to improve the quality of the educational process and to train highly qualified specialists for the defence industry. The necessity of introducing the proposed discipline is demonstrated and its place in the higher education system is shown. The aim of the article is to justify the necessity of introducing this discipline. The methods of systems analysis, pedagogical design and expert evaluation are employed. It is shown that the discipline develops design skills and contributes to the training of specialists who meet the modern requirements of the defence industry.
