Abstract

This article provides a historical overview of the training of engineering and scientific personnel since the inception of Priazov State Technical University. It also covers the organization of the educational process in various periods of its existence: during the existence of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics and after its dissolution in 1991, as well as during the formation of the Commonwealth of Independent States. Particular attention is paid to the training of students studying blue-collar jobs and the use of their acquired knowledge and skills during subsequent industrial internships. The article examines the organization of industrial internships and their inclusion in the curriculum. Using examples from several departments, it demonstrates the organization of the educational process with the introduction of industrial internships. The role of research in acquiring the necessary knowledge and skills for the subsequent practical work of young specialists in production or work in research organizations is demonstrated. An analysis of the preparation and defense of dissertations for the academic degrees of candidate and doctor of science is presented, indicating the time spent on the preparation of dissertations and obtaining these academic degrees during their working careers. It was found that the timeframe established by the postgraduate program’s regulations for preparing and defending dissertations for technical candidate degrees is practically not being met. An analysis is provided of several options for implementing new proposals for organizing specialist training under the planned educational reform for 2026. Prospects are examined and proposals for developing the educational process for training technical specialists are presented.
